ADMISSION WITH A FOREING DIPLOMA TO THE ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

Islamic Theology Programme

Some foreign qualifications give entitlement to registration with the Islamic Theology Programme. The students with foreign qualifications which are comparable to the Dutch Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO) can apply for this programme. When a student with a foreign high school education prerequisites for admission, the Admission Commission decides on the level of the foreign diploma, which must be the same level of the Dutch equivalent (WVO, ).

  1. Diploma of German Gymnasium, diploma of Belgian Hogere Secundaire Onderwijs, Belgian Diplôme de l'Enseignement Secondaire Supérieur are qualified as VWO-equivalent. A final diploma of German Allgemeine Hochschulreife gives entitlement to registration with the Islamic Theology programme, after an entrance examination. The possessor of final diploma from a German Allgemeine Hochschulreife must be 21 years or older.
  2. A Turkish Imam Hatip Lise Diploması or Lise Diploması gives in principle no direct access to the Ba programme. A student with an Imam Hatip Lise Diploması or Lise Diploması can be admitted to the Ba programme if he/she is already admitted to a university Ba programme in Turkey.
  3. Students with a Imam Hatip Lise Diploması or a Lise Diploması but without admission to a Ba programme in Turkey, and students with baccalauréaat from Morocco can be admitted after an entrance (entry) examination.

Who is not in possession of one of the abovementioned diplomas or certificates, can access the Ba programme through an entrance exam.

 


Master Programmes

Foreign (International) diplomas in the admission to the Ma programmes of IUR are evaluated on the basis of advice from professional organizations such as NUFFIC. The minimum level of the diploma must be equal to the diploma of a three year Dutch University or HBO Bachelor of 180 ECTS credits.


DUTCH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY (NT2 LEVEL)

Studenten moeten in staat zijn om boeken te lezen en begrijpen, lezingen te volgen, deel te nemen in de hoor- en werkcolleges in het Nederlands op een niveau van ten minste NT-II. Daarom, bij toelating tot een in het Nederlands gegeven onderwijs op grond van een buitenlands diploma is een zogenaamd NT2-II-diploma altijd een aanvullende eis. Voldoende beheersing van de Nederlandse taal kan worden aangetoond door het behalen van:

Students should be able to read and understand books, lectures, to participate in lectures and seminars in Dutch at a level of at least NT-II. Therefore, in admission to a Dutch spoken programme on the basis of a foreign diploma, a so-called NT2-II-diploma is always an additional requirement for foreign students.  Dutch language proficiency can be demonstrated by:

  1. The state examination Dutch as a second language program, level 2.
  2. The final examination of Dutch language courses of Dutch universities  or HBO’s for non-Dutch-speaking prospective students or
  3. The Dutch language examination which for this purpose is taken under the responsibility of Voorbereiding Hoger Onderwijs (VHO)

At the moment of initial registration for a Ba programme, the proof of the Dutch language proficiency cannot be older than 24 months.

RESIDENCE PERMIT

The academic programmes of the IUR attract a lot of attention of the foreign students. To be admitted to the courses of the IUR, students must be in possession of a valid residence permit in the Netherlands or in one of the countries of the European Union (EU).  A "residence permit" means a (permanent) residence permit on the basis of family reunion; a (permanent) residence permit on the basis of "recognized refugee"; a residence permit on the basis of "employment contract", which is valid at least for 6 months; a residence permit other than the above-mentioned statutes, that is valid at least for more than 1 year, but is suitable for to study in Netherlands.


VISA

A visa is not needed for students from EU countries. Visa is required for students coming from all countries with the exception of the following countries: Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Austria, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
