Living in the city and how do you find a room?

It is of course important to be able to live in the city in which you are studying. Rotterdam is a beautiful city to live and there are several options for living in the city as pleasant as possible. Kralingse Forest, Bergse Forest and many other places are ideally suited to study after a heavy day.

It is therefore very important to find a suitable accommodation, it is important to decide how you want to live, do you want to live in a students’ house (dorm) or rent something yourself? In which area of the city do you live? How big should the room be or even home? What are you willing to pay?

Searching for a room or house can be done in several ways.

  • Click woningzoeken (in Dutch).
  • There are often notes with 'rooms  offered 'on the various bulletin boards, for example, in the University Library, the entrance to the University and in the canteen. You can then use the number on the note, call and make an appointment for a guided tour. It is also possible that your self hangs a note up on the boards and ask a room.
  • In addition, you can also go to a Mosque or foundation in Rotterdam to speak directly to people whether they can help you in finding an apartment or room. Often, people are therefore willing to help.
  • It is also possible to register with a housing corporation, which hires houses. The waiting time is very long, so you'll need to register on time.
  • Our student deans also help you on finding a room.
